Marina McPherson

Marina McPherson has been attending Magenta now for over 17 years. During that time she has tried her hand at a range of creative practices. The creative process is vital to her well- being, in her words: “my mum knows I’m not well, that is when I haven’t got a creative project on the go”. Diagnosed with depression, schizophrenia tendencies and anxiety, Marina wants to break-down the stigmas attached to mental health, and she talks about this whenever we speak of her art practice.

In the last 5-8 years she has refined her skills in embroidery and creates astonishing work with vibrant thread and whimsical figures often of pop-stars and their lyrics, complimented by flamboyant floral designs to enhance her hand drawn compositions.

Marina sees herself as a “serious artist with mental health”, she has tried many other labels, but feels this one fits the best.
